The hardware of H244QP consists of a high performance 8-bit MCU (Jupiter-B) that features efficient addressing registers and memory timing control register (MTR) to access internal/external memory and I/O devices with appropriate timing.

   The H244QP features VCO and PLL to provide system clock. The frequency of the system clock is programmable and runs typically at 45 MHz. It has two built-in 8-bit timers and each timer is made up of one 8-bit up-counter, 8-bit reload data register and a pre-scaler of timer clock. These timers can be usually used to configure the speech sampling frequency. One watch-dog timer is embedded in as well. It can reset the MCU if not cleared for 65536 clock cycles that is programmable.

   Two kinds of serial interface are supported on the external I/O bus: 2-wired serial bus and SPI interface. H244QP acts as a slave device and is able to communicate with the external host controller via either of the two interfaces.
   H244QP features 16 general purpose I/O pins with eight of them having function of remote wakeup. One microphone input is supported with auto gain control (AGC) circuit. Moreover, there are 16 analog channels that support analog-to-digital conversion and 3 bits AD conversion (each with16 bit resolution) or 4 bits ADC (8 bit resolution) plus 1 bit ADC (16 bit resolution) can be used to facilitate versatile audio/speech applications.

   The H244QP is intended for use of consumer applications of audio/speech playback & recording via the expanded function that contains R/W of external memory, timbre changing and storage of data compression by specific algorithms. Moreover, advanced application of A/D conversion of H244QP can be extended to recognition of the relative 3-dimentional spatial position of a sounding object by computing the coordinates of its X, Y and Z axis with specific proprietary algorithms.
